Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

MotelTrip.com ("MotelTrip", "we", "us") is a directory of independent motels. This policy explains what information we collect when you use moteltrip.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions go to admin@moteltrip.com.

What you give us

  • An account. Your email address, first and last name, and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and Google account ID with us.
  • Saved motels. The listings you save, tied to your account.
  • Ownership claims. If you claim a listing, we collect your name, phone number, your role at the motel, and which motel. We use this to check the claim and contact you about it.
  • Listing submissions. If you add or update a motel, we collect what you enter: the motel's name, address, phone, email, website, amenities, description and photos. Submissions are reviewed before they appear.
  • Issue reports. What you report about a listing, and your email address if you choose to give it, so we can follow up.

What we collect automatically

  • Server logs. Like most websites, our server records each request: IP address, browser type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use logs to keep the site running, stop abuse and understand which pages search engines visit.
  • Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site: pages viewed, the town or ZIP code typed into our search, and clicks such as calling a motel or getting directions. Google Analytics uses cookies and receives your IP address. Google's advertising features are turned off, and we do not send Google your name or account.
  • Cookies. Besides Google Analytics: a login cookie while you are signed in, and a short cookie (about 60 seconds) that lets us show a notice when a motel you followed has closed.
  • Your location, only if you ask. "Near me" on our Find page asks your browser for your location and uses it only in your browser to center the map. It is not sent to us or stored.

How we use information

To run and improve the directory, keep listings accurate, review submissions and claims, answer your messages, send account emails (such as password resets and claim decisions), and protect the site from spam and abuse. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

Each service handles data under its own privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on.

What is public

Listing details, descriptions and photos you submit are public once approved. We never show your email address, account details, ownership claims or issue reports on the site.

How long we keep it

Account information is kept while your account is open. Claims, submissions and issue reports are kept as part of the listing's history. Messages and server logs are kept only as long as we need them to run the site.

Your choices and rights

  • Email admin@moteltrip.com to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to close your account. We respond within 30 days.
  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser; the site still works, though you will need to sign in again.
  • We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. Our site does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals.

Children

MotelTrip is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS throughout, store passwords only as hashes, and limit access to personal information. No website is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
